FAQ’S

We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions, if your answers aren’t here please feel free to get in touch and our berry team will be more than happy to assist in guiding you.

  • Do I need to confirm my booking?

    • We have an automated text reminder system.  We kindly request that you phone us at your earliest convenience if you require to reschedule your appointment.  In the unlikely event that you do not receive a confirmation text 24-48 hours prior to your appointment, please feel free to contact the salon via phone to confirm.

  • What if I need to Cancel?

    • When you book an appointment for a late night or a Saturday, and also when you book online, you will be asked to provide payment of $50 for a deposit. In the event that you are unable to make your booking, we kindly ask that you provide the salon with more than 24 hours’ notice. Should you fail to contact the salon to cancel or reschedule your appointment within this notice period, your deposit will be forfeited. 

  • If you arrive at your appointment as scheduled, your deposit will simply be deducted from your overall service charge.

    • If you are running late, please be advised that we may not be able to perform your complete service. Please appreciate that our salon operates according to strict timing to ensure our scheduled appointments run to time.

  • What if I don’t like my colour?

    • Please kindly note we have a 10 day notification policy if you would like to adjust something about your hair. We do not offer refunds. A consultation would be required to ensure enough time is booked out for any correction and is free of charge.

  • Do you offer consultations?

    • We certainly do! We want to have a chance to get to you know, your hair and your lifestyle. We want to discuss your hair goals and the process required to get you there.  We want to educate you on what maintenance is involved and what haircare we would recommend for you.  We like to be transparent with our clients about your expectations and what is achievable or not. Consultations are complimentary and we allow a 15 minute appointment.  

  • How long will my service take?

    • We aim for perfection at Berry Lane Hair which takes time.  For haircut appointments we allow an hour which includes a shampoo and blow-dry style.  Generally colour appointments that include a cut and blow-dry are approximately three to four hours. It could be less depending on your length hair and what service you are having done. We know your time is valuable and we do what we can to make it as enjoyable as possible.  We have an array of magazines to offer and also complimentary Wifi and phone chargers are available.  Although we love to chat, we understand you may need to work while you are in so you are most welcome to bring your laptop and work. 

  • How many sessions will my hair take to achieve my desired colour?

    • Each client’s hair takes differently to colour so we can provide you with an estimate, however it may vary. If you do not have any artificial dye in your hair then we can usually achieve your desired colour in the first session. However, if you have coloured your hair recently (in particular home dye’s) then we may need to cleanse your hair first to pull any strong colours. Alternatively if your hair is damaged then we may need to do 3 or 4 sessions of colour to maintain the integrity of your hair to prevent breakage.

  • Do I require a blowdry? 

    • We are a full service salon and therefore do prefer to finish your service with a full blowdry style.  This allows us to see the end result and ensure you love it.  Particularly for new clients as we are unfamiliar with your hair, blowdry finishes are required.  

  • What should I wear?

    • You will wear a cape throughout your appointment, so your clothing will be covered, and we certainly take every effort to avoid any spills or leaks. However, we recommend you do not wear anything white, valuable or expensive, as Berry Lane Hair cannot be responsible for any stains or damage.

  • What payment methods do you accept?

    • We accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa,  Mastercard and SalonPay.  Unfortunately we do not accept payment via American Express or Diners Club Card.  Full Payment is required at the end of your appointment.

  • We offer quotes before proceeding with your service.  

    • SalonPay is a payment gateway that allows your payment to be divided into 4 interest-free fortnightly payments which will be directly debited from your account.  You can have new hair now and pay later. 

  • Do I require a toner?

    • toner is a semi permanent colour applied over pre-lightened hair.  A toner allows us to enhance or adjust the tones in your hair after we have lightened it so we can create your desired colour.  It also seals the hair cuticle leaving it smoother and shinier than without.  A semi-toner should last up to six weeks; depending on how frequently you wash your hair and the quality of products you use at home. We can recommend take-home products to maintain your colour.

  • How do I know if my hair is short, medium, long or extra long?

    • Short hair is pixie length to the ear lobe. 

    • Medium hair is between the ear lobe and above the shoulder. 

    • Long hair is below the shoulder to your bra line. 

    • Extra Long Hair is below the bra line. 

    • Our prices vary based on length hair and the amount of product and time taken to complete your service. 

  • Where can I park?

    • There is street parking available.  Parking is free for 3 hours in the centre parks, otherwise paid parking is available for $1.60ph for 3 hours.  Our team are more than happy to top up your ticket should your appointment run over your ticket time
